Every rail needs some kind of support to keep it upright and to maintain the distance between the rails. This is where the Railbed comes in. Made up of a series of Ties, the Railbed is one of the primary components in every Rail recipe.

In Railcraft, Railbeds come in two varieties: Wood and Stone. Wooden Railbeds are used for standard rails and [[Track:Wooden Track|Wooden Tracks]] and made with [[Part:Ties|Wooden Ties]], they are cheaper than Stone but can't handle the higher stresses of [[Guide:High Speed|High Speed Rails]]. This is where the Stone Railbeds come in. They are made with [[part:ties|Stone Ties]] and provide the support needed for higher speeds.
